Saqr DUKC®
Port Optimisation Technology Delivering Results
The Dynamic Under Keel Clearance® system is a digital solution which is underpinned by detailed modelling of port operations, analysis, and the AI assisted assimilation of real-time and forecast environmental conditions. The system has enabled the Port’s customers to ship more tonnes with fewer vessels, reducing freight costs and Green House Gas emissions.

The DUKC® system allows vessels to load more cargo and take advantage of enhanced tidal windows, thereby loading deeper and allowing more time on the berth.
2020
DUKC® went operational for Saqr Port on January 1st, 2020, and the benefits for the Port’s customers have been significant.
On Thursday 9th January the MV LMZ Phoebe was the first vessel to utilise DUKC®, sailing from Berth 10 with a draft of 12.76m, achieving 56cm additional draft.
On January 20th, the Ganga K sailed at a draft of 12.83m, 83cm deeper that the static draft with an additional 5,000 tonnes of cargo.
On January 21st,the Elbabe sailed at 12.85m, 85cm deeper than static.
On August 10th, the MV Soho Mandate loaded a cargo of Clinker at Berth 12 in the Inner Harbour of Saqr Port with a final draft of 13.02m, allowing the vessel to load approximately 7000t of additional cargo.
RAK Ports achieved a new record with the ASIA RUBY departing from Saqr Port with a draft of 13.1m on October 15th.
2021
On July 23rd, bulk carrier Zagori sets a new record for Saqr Port, with a draft of 13.18m.
On October 7, the Star Crios set a new draft record of 13.25m from the Inner Harbour.
On October 28, RAK Ports set a new throughput record on a single tide, with three outbounds and one inbound transit.
DUKC® optimises the amount of cargo that any vessel can load by accurately determining the maximum safe sailing draft for that vessel, given the conditions on the day.
The Port’s customers are benefiting through increased per ship volumes and reduced freight. Furthermore, by moving more volume with fewer vessels, Saqr Port is facilitating a significant reduction in shipping related CO2 and GHG emissions.
Record Achievements
With a track record of 175,000+ safe transits, the latest generation cloud-based DUKC® enables ports to maximise the drafts and sailing windows for every arrival and departure, thereby optimising throughput and efficiency, and minimising dredging.
Below are some recent examples of ports using DUKC® to accommodate record vessel sizes, drafts, and tonnages. More examples are can be found here: http://bit.ly/recordUKC
